The plethora of colours, that paints and pains an Eating Disorder
Fingernails that are perpetually blue, split and breaking. Hands and arms, a mottled purple, unnatural. Skin, the pallor of a ghost, save for the black that hangs beneath the eyes. Bright bruises, purple blue and yellow shot with green, mar every limb that once bumped or even brushed an object, no matter how gently, for fragility is now the norm. Yellow teeth betray the secret of evey meal eaten, then rejected, a raw pink throat, the path that fingers travel all too often. Greying hair (what is left of it), and sprouting new fur to keep the body warm. Orange shards of light pierce the black that is your vision, before gravity pulls you to the floor. Copper. This metallic tang you can smell, taste, and see. Blood you thought you didn’t have (because you are a living dead now), gushes from a cracked lip, when you decided to kiss the floor just moment ago. The deep copper/scarlet/crimson/red, is all too familiar. Though no longer present each month, still colours your world as though you lived in gray-scale. The lines that bear witness to a violent act against oneself, the clots you spit from your mouth as you vomit incessantly, the colour paints your skin as you trip and tear and cut into yourself. Red is a favorite, and shall be your undoing.
